Piglet Escape Artists

Yesterday was a hard day!

In the morning we had the 2 mums out and particularly Ginger she wanted to go back to her piglets.

It took a lot of time as one of the issues to the 2nd pig paddock is the  gates,  one internal one.

The only other one on the outside is the furthest away.

Ginger would follow along then swing back to her squealing piglets.

Then more time plugging up the holes as the girls have got smart and know if they lean on the wire,

they can break the clips holding the fencing wire!  Gates were taken from other areas to stop them pushing the fence up.

Then one of us,  I am sure it was him, left the gate open and the sheep got into the home paddock,

of course they go into the feed shed and knocked the bales of hay over.

Having a great munch on goodies they like.

Mietta is actually getting skilled at rounding up as she has had so many chances!

In the afternoon I was preparing the feed for the pigs then I see them,

all the piglets are out and one of the gates that David has taken off the fence is now an escape hatch for the piglets.

The gate,  again I know it was David,  leading to the chook cages is open,  then the 8 of them are in the shed with me!!!

I’m yelling as David is feeding the sheep!  the piglets are trying to rip open feed bags.  All dogs are trying to herd.

I see the broom and my chosen weapon is doing the job, tapping them I should really say whacking them on the bums to get back to the paddock.

I get them back into the chook paddock, exasperated.  “why did they get out!”

David had taken the gate off the wire to use on the mum’s.. and hadn’t plugged up that hole…!!

When you look at all our other animals particularly the goats,  all of them are stopped,

gazing in awe at the craziness that is such a regular occurrence on our farm!

Then David has a shot at me as I had  forgotten to water my compost heaps!!!  FFS!

That got my back up as he is the one using the goodness out of  my compost,  on his veggie patches.

I had taken over watering the veggie patch.

Needless to say we opted for “Time Out”!  Don’t talk to me…..

Fingers crossed today will be a little easier and keep the bl**dy gates closed.

David will be off to that second hand place opposite Long Gully IGA to get some second hand tin as will work it doesn’t look that good,  at this moment I really don’t care.
